Miami Gardens is a city in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States, located in the northwestern part of the county. Its limits range from I-95 and NE 2nd Avenue on the east to NW 47th and on the west, from NW 57th Avenue to 151st Street; on the north to 151st Street; and on the south, from the Broward County line to 151st Street., and from the Broward County boundary on the north to 151st Street on the south. The city’s name is derived from one of the area’s principal thoroughfares, Miami Gardens Drive. The city has a population of 110,001 people, according to the US Census Bureau, and it is Florida’s biggest city with a mainly African American population. It is a major city in the Miami metropolitan region, which had a population of 6,012,331 in 2015.

Before the city was founded, unincorporated areas of Miami-Dade County included Andover, Bunche Park, Carol City, Lake Lucerne, Norland, Opa-Locka North, and Scott Lake.
